Carl Froch v George Groves

CARL FROCH v GEORGE GROVES

31st MAY 2014

This is a little different from what I usually create, I was commissioned to create this great sporting moment and was excited to accept the challenge.

I did try to create this scene with the two figures on Subbuteo bases but the size and height of the base crowded the ring too much and overpowered the scene.

I am very pleased on how this turned out, and I must say the photo's do not do it justice.

The scene is presented in a beautiful display case, as seen in the last two images.

Subbuteo Art's First Large Display

 Subbuteo Art's first large display

Approximately 30cm x 30cm

It represents Ricky Villa's FA Cup winning goal for
Tottenham V's Manchester City
FA Cup Final replay 1981

In the 76th minute, Tony Galvin passed to Ricky Villa 30 yards from Man City's goal, and the Argentinian proceeded to skip past four defenders before slotting the ball past the Man City goalkeeper. This goal was voted Wembley Goal of the Century in 2001.

The pitch is artificial grass with hand painted white lines. The pitch is to the same scale as an original Subbuteo pitch.
